I have been collecting toy soldiers of all types for over 40 years; plastic toy figures and lead soldiers. At various times I have made them commercially, sold them at shows, sculpted them for others but always, above all collected them. Your will find Plastic toy soldiers and lead figures that are not generally shown. These days I am particularly interested in toy soldiers that have an interesting history as well as being attractive. Typical of this approach are the plastic toy figures produced in Poland in the 1960’s to 80’s by PZG Polski Zwiazek Gluchych; The Polish Union for the Deaf. They produced in their light industrial workshops many unique sets (as well as some blatant copies) and these sets now form an important element of my collection. Much of this website will be initially dedicated to these figures and I hope that showing them on these pages will unearth more Polish toy soldiers; there must be thousands out there! More of this later.
I also intend showcasing the lead soldiers created by Hinton Hunt and those of Charles Stadden. I love the eccentricity of Marcus Hinton’s fine sculpting; always historically accurate if a little quirky. The figures on show are medieval figures painted by myself in Wars of the Roses liveries. The figures of Charles Stadden; probably in his time the most influential sculptor of 54mm custom made figures need little introduction; they have a charm that when enhanced by fine painting cannot be matched even by the flawless but sometimes characterless pieces that are at the top end of modern artistry. However, this is only my perception and each collector will rightly have their own very valid favorites.
There will be more pictures and many types of both plastic and lead figures will be added as the site grows.
I hope that you enjoy my site. Any information is my own and therefore not necessarily correct, but I hope that it will draw out more history and information on the toy soldiers depicted. If anyone wishes to discuss the content, I will always answer by email. Remember though that I am as busy as anyone else and there may be a time lag before answering so please have patience.
So, please enter my world of Toy Soldiers,Jim Lloyd
